Picture this: June 2014, the Himalayas. A group of friends, a fleet of Royal Enfields, and roads that made no promises. One of those riders, barely a month on a bike, would return home with an idea that would, years later, become Thrillblaze Africa.

Grace Mwari was living and working in India at the time. The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 was her steed of choice – practical, given that she belongs to, as she puts it, “the non-vertically blessed group of little humans.” The route stretched from Manali via Leh, Ladakh all the way to Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. Back then it was raw, it was wild, and somewhere between the altitude and the dust, a seed was planted: what if we could do this in Kenya?

She didn’t rush it. A five-month bike-packing expedition across Southeast Asia in 2015 only deepened the idea. By January 2018, the first version was alive, an Enduro Tours company running KTM 450s through Kenya’s rugged terrain, with her planning the routes and guiding riders personally. For five years, that was the life.

The Crash. The Pause. The Pivot.

Then October 2023 happened. A crash, the biggest of her life, left her with multiple fractures and eight months of healing. For most people, that’s the end of the story. For her, it was the beginning of a better one.

During those months of recovery, the idea sharpened. Not just to keep but to build something more complete. Something that honored the landscape, the wildlife, the communities and brought more people into the experience, whatever their comfort level on a bike. Thrillblaze Africa was born.

Today, Thrillblaze Africa offers four ways in: Enduro tours on KTM 450 EXC-Fs for those who want the adrenaline of dirt trails, Adventure Touring on Royal Enfield Himalayan 450s for riders who want scenic country roads with a dose of light offroad, Safaris for the non-riders in your group, and Community Engagement that connects you with the places you visit.

The common thread isn’t the vehicle. It’s the feeling. Every tour blends East Africa’s scenery, wildlife, and culture in a way that few operators do with high standards on equipment, accommodation, and food, all wrapped in seamless logistics so you can simply enjoy the ride. Who This Is For

Our guests are 21 and above, and what they share isn’t an age bracket, it’s a mindset. They’re tired of tourist traps and curated Instagram moments that feel hollow. They want adventure that is real: a little outside their comfort zone, deeply connected to places, and still grounded in good food and a solid bed at the end of the day. They want to leave feeling something.
